The personal injury law firm of Carpenter, Zuckerman & Rowley will be participating in the upcoming AIDS Walk Los Angeles on October 14, and raising funds to help support AIDS Project Los Angeles and other AIDS service organizations in L.A. County.
The first ever AIDS Walk was held in 1984 at the height of the AIDS epidemic in order to fundraise and bring awareness for the fight against AIDS. The very first AIDS Walk, held in Los Angeles on July 28, 1985, saw 4,500 participants and raised $673,000, far exceeding expectations.
Over the years, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has become California’s largest AIDS fundraising event, with an annual average of 30,000 people participating. Since 1985, the event has raised more than $72 million for the fight against AIDS and HIV.
Participants fundraise prior to the event, with those who reach $1,000 honored as members of the Star Walkers Club. Teams for the event can range anywhere from two to 1,000 members.
AIDS Walk Los Angeles will begin at 8:30 am, with the Opening Ceremony at 10 a.m., starting at the West Hollywood Park and will cover 10 kilometers that will last for approximately two to three hours. For more information on how you can take part in the event or donate funds, call AIDS Walk Los Angeles at (213) 201-9255 or visit www.aidswalk.net.
