CZR Contributes to Inner City Law Center as Charity of the Month for March

CZR Charity Contribution to ICLCThe law firm of Carpenter, Zuckerman & Rowley recently made a donation to the Inner City Law Center, choosing it as our charity of the month. The organization is focused on providing legal services to the poor and homeless in Los Angeles.

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is the only provider of legal services on Skid Row, found in downtown Los Angeles and populated by countless homeless people every day. The organization deals with housing issues, benefits for veterans, and prevention of homelessness. There are 20 attorneys on the institute’s staff, providing experience and insight into the legal world and representing those who are struggling.

ICLC is informed by the belief that “every person should always be treated with dignity and respect.” Donations to the organization help them meet their goals. This includes helping homeless veterans get off the streets, creating affordable, safe, and healthy housing, and preventing families who are in danger of being evicted and becoming homeless.

ICLC was started in 1980 by Nancy Mintie, who saw firsthand the struggles of the homeless living on and around Skid Row in Los Angeles. In the time since, the organization has continued to grow and fought back against both homelessness and the dangerous conditions of slums. Numerous cases have been fought and won in order to hold slumlords responsible for the safety of their tenants and providing better affordable living conditions for residents.
