Boating Accident Leaves 11-Year-Old Stepson of Usher Brain Dead

The 11-year-old stepson of music superstar Usher Raymond through his former marriage to Tameka Foster has been declared as brain dead after being involved in a serious boating accident on Georgia’s Lake Lanier. The accident occurred when a family friend on a Jet Ski collided with the boy and his friend while they were inner tubing on July 8, according to ABC News.

The two were in an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon when the personal watercraft ran on top of them. The 15-year-old girl sustained a broken arm and cut to the head, but the 11-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury that led to him being declared brain dead at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. There have been no reported signs of brain activity in the victim since the accident, but doctors have not revealed any more information concerning his condition.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is currently investigating the accident, and while they have not stated any more details, they have revealed that alcohol was not a cause of the accident. Both Usher and his ex-wife have come together to stay by the side of the victim despite their differences and an ongoing custody battle.
