Personal injury attorney Robert J. Ounjian was recently chosen for inclusion on Super Lawyers® 2013 Southern California Rising Stars list. Every year, up-and-coming attorneys are included on the list, but only 2.5 percent of all lawyers in the state can make it.
In the past year, Mr. Ounjian has taken part in several high profile cases, including a $74.5 million medical malpractice case concerning a young girl who had suffered cerebral palsy due to birthing mistakes. These results help to give him distinction among his peers and the many court cases held in California every year.
When determining who will make it on the Rising Stars list, Super Lawyers has created an extensive process for selection. First, peers nominate attorneys as candidate, with votes from those outside of the firm counting more than those within the firm of the candidate. Next, research staff examines the honors, results, and credentials of the candidates to determine the degree of peer recognition and competence in the field.
Members of the Super Lawyers research department then evaluate attorneys based on 12 aspects: verdicts and settlements, experience, honors and awards, bar and other professional activity, representative clients, transactions, special licenses and certifications, scholarly lectures and writings, position within law firm, pro bono and community service work, education and employment, and other outstanding achievements.
Finally, candidates are reviewed according to their practice areas and selected according to point totals they are given for their achievements. Mr. Ounjian’s Super Lawyers profile can be found here.
